Project Abstract:

• The initiative for Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) will intensively use Grid technologies.


• The GMES applications are very complex and consume a great deal of computational and storage resources. Grids are ideal systems for this type of applications.


• The proposed grid system (GRAI) will connect/integrate the research efforts done in four major universities and one research centre; it will represent a core able to connect with complex platforms like the one in the GALILEO project.


• The GRAI grid will be organized on four different levels:


• the computational resources layer,
• the service layer,
• the applications layer and
• a special layer for information.
